East Bottoms Demo

And by demo I mean demolition. On my evening drive-about Saturday I stopped at the dodgiest looking thing I could find - and I guess this was it. Other than that, I feel like I've slowed down my pace of getting new shots right now, as there's just other things I'm having to take care of first right now. That happens every now and then.

East Bottoms Train Blur

Meandering about by way of my motorcar on Saturday evening looking for something interesting I knew not what, I stopped at a scary train crossing in the East Bottoms industrial area of KCMO. A train approached so I prepped myself to capture it's motion blurred portrait. Later that night I received word a friend was having a controlled fire in his back yard, so I went and imbibed beverages there and enjoyed the fragrant aroma of burning wood.

Downtown Library Building

A look at KCMO's downtown library with a blur of a moving bus across the long exposure. The headquarters for AMC Theatres also preside in the background. Truth be told, I'm not as excited about this picture as I was hoping I would be when I set out to take it. Getting an interesting angle I thought was difficult, and I spent half my time fighting with my rotten shutter triggers, which wasted a lot of time. By the way, somebody give me a shout-out as soon as someone in the world actually manufactures a shutter trigger that's not an over-priced, cheaply made piece of crap.

I think I'll try this shot again in warmer weather, as the ice-pack along the streets made maneuvering myself and my tripod rig more of a pain - plus I always like getting shots of this area no matter what. It's picturesque.

Garage Glass

Looking close-up at the glass of the downtown library's garage at 10th and Baltimore. Since my weekend was mostly freed up, I'd gone back a second night to try for this shot mainly, since the one I'd gotten the evening prior had already missed the best lighting due to the sun going down. My processes that night had been delayed from fighting with sub-standard shutter triggers while getting a picture of the library itself on the other side of the street. Which brings up something, I've never come across a shutter trigger/cable release that wasn't a complete piece of cheap crap, no matter how much you pay for it. That is all.

Library Lofts Streetwall

When I was over getting a shot of the downtown library building on Saturday night I also thought I'd nab another shot of the streetwall looking up Baltimore Ave with the Library Lofts, formerly the Dwight Building - at the fore. I'd taken a very similar shot back in July, but wanted to try one without the prominent traffic sign since it's been indicated a stock sale may more easily come from the non-traffic sign version. Who knows. It depends on the buyer and the use.
