Me In An Elevator

From Tuesday night when I was about done running around getting pictures with my new lens. This was in the elevator for the downtown library's parking garage, en route to the ground floor with a bit of me and my camera/lens/tripod apparatus reflecting back at you through your computer monitor. How existential.

We have in view the 21 Ten condo building on the right, and the Kansas City downtown library on the left. I have some history in these parts, having worked up the street in the City Center Square Tower for a few months in 2005. Lunch breaks abounded in these parts in that humid mid-decade summer prior to my first SLR ever.

Cancer Survivors Park Pt. 2

Cancer Survivors Park, KCMO, new wide angle lens, yadda yadda yadda, blah blah blah.

Back there behind the walk-through terrace are some nice Kansas City Colonnade style apartment buildings from early last century.

Army Officer Candidate School Training

Combat training as part of Officer Candidate School at Fort Leonard Wood Army Base, in south-central Missouri. I had the chance to visit and photograph the training first hand back in July.

Under Interstate 670

I went to the West Bottoms Monday evening with some ideas in my head, none of which worked out at all. There are these metal sculptures of cattle on a hill, harkening back to the stockyard days of the West Bottoms. That's all fine and dandy except that this inept, nearly-bankrupt city has let the grass and weeds grow so high around this art installation that you can hardly make out the damn things. So there went that idea.

So for this photo, there I was right underneath I-670 in the West Bottoms near downtown Kansas City MO.

And I was still meddling with my lovely new lens, the Canon EF 16-35 L II.

Next to I-670

...hangin' around in a dodgy manner under and near Interstate highway overpasses on Monday night. Back to my telephoto lens here for a bit, as I finally affixed something to the 5D other than my new wide angle 16-35 for awhile. And on the subject of wide angle lenses - I sent my old, partially damaged mainstay 17-40L lens into Canon for a repair estimate - which I am now informed comes to the tune of $175. It's times like this I hate Canon, as I know bloody well they're charging exactly the price that makes it still worthwhile to repair so you could sell the item if need be, and also just enough that you don't just take the L series lens and throw it in the trash.

Under Interstate 670 Pt. 2

Another shot under Interstate I-670 from earlier this week. Some HDR processing used here, in addition to a helpful dose of Topaz Adjust, which seems to be ideal for photos kind of like this one.

Stranglement

My cousin Jennifer getting a likely-deserved strangling at the hands of Susan, a friend of her older sister Karen. Photo from Saturday at my aunt's sixtieth birthday party.

El Gato Minolta

My cat, Minolta, at 8 am one day last week, with my new 16-35 L II lens. Taken in my apartment with morning sunlight coming in from the east windows (that's opposite the windows viewable in this photo). I've had him for fourteen years.
